Permission to Purchase application times

Applied for PtP early last September when our purchase completed. Lawyer said it takes about 6 months, so taking lockdown into consideration i still would have expected it to have been granted by now. Lawyer says it is in the system and we just have to wait. We were hoping to come out in September, however we don't want to get back to UK and the Lawyer calls us 2 days afterwards telling us to come out and do all the necessary. I was wondering if anyone else is either waiting for PtP currently, or had recently been granted and how long it took. Or, can anyone provide some contact details for the relevant Government department i might enquire to in the absence of anything useful being done by our Lawyer.

Applied for ours at the sane time as you and permission came through in November, so not a problem for us at all might be worth trying to chase it up

You can go to Lefkosa with your application number and they check it for you.

Once it comes through you can do the rest whenever you want so you will have time to plan to come over

Because Advocates have no duty of care to their clients and know one tells you anything. our PTP had been in the office next door to the Court in Girne for nearly 7 months and we hadn't realised. I just went in on the off chance to get some sort of idea. The clerk behind the counter, checked in a large Dickensian leather bound book, asked for my Passport and brought the PTP out from a back room. That was after we had given someone a "brown envelope" to speed the system up for us. I'm sure that sort of thing doesn't happen these days.

From my personal experience, I would say it is very much down to how your advocate proceeds - in my own case, when buying in 2015, my TC friend told me to use her family Notar - NOT an avukat (advocate). This (lady) notar had handled all sorts of legal matters (including property) for the family over time, but had little experience of handling matters involving foreigners (like us). Nevertheless, she "knew" people (including, I believe, in the Council of Ministers) - at a time when PTP was still taking months/YEARS to come through, we received our PTP, completed purchase AND got the kocan within 3 months - all while we were still in the UK!
When we were actually in TRNC, she helped us with other matters (e.g. registering with Kibtek) and we saw her in action - there are no such things as queues; offices are open whenever they are required; waiting periods do not exist - She is the original primeval irresistable force - and there is NO immovable object!
So if you are lucky enough to get a GOOD lawyer/avukat or even notar, hopefully they will keep pushing and prodding to speed the PTP and all other required documentation.

The Interior Ministry building, where the immigration/Residency dept is.

The PTP dept is upstairs, if you ask at the front reception in the lobby, they will direct you.

If you know your PTP application number, you can just ring and ask - the girl speaks reasonable English.

I don't have the 'phone number to hand, but if no one else comes up with it, I can go and dig it out for you.

JOFRA, wish that system had been in force back in 2004, when applications had to be actually signed by the Council of Ministers personally, plus their dogs.

Ditto KC, much appreciated and thanks for replies. I've e-mailed our Lawyer to check on progress and ask for application number.

The old Homebuyers group gave the numbers as

00 90 (0)392 611 1127

00 90 (0)392 611 1143

They may be years out of date so apologies in advance.

We think this has been asked before so apologies.
Does anyone know if you can apply for residency without having your PPI.
We have our contract of sale but unfortunately our lawyer let us down and did not obtain our PPI even though he was paid to do it.
Any help/advice would be appreciated.
Thank you,
BBB and his other half. (8)) (0-0)

Do you know if your lawyer submitted an application? If so, you can use the application number, it doesn't need to be approved, as far as I can tell. You can do the application yourself but as you would need to get police reports from UK it would take some time. I don't know the answer to the question re residency but if you have a contract and a PTP number you also need to prove that you have paid at least a third of the contract price.

Information on how to apply here http://icisleri.gov.ct.tr/KURUL-KOMİSYO ... Mal-Birimi
it's in Turkish though but the first bit says:

'Applications are accepted personally, by proxy or through their lawyers when foreign nationals purchase immovable property from our country.'

The first tab will download details of the documents you need, scroll down for English, the other tabs are examples of documents referred to in first tab download.

Good luck

Thank you.
Our lawyer who acted for us is no longer taking our calls or messages.
We did have police reports done in the UK and with all the rest of the paperwork was handed over to him which were then lost. Another police report was done here by the Girne police which he said would be accepted. We are still waiting.
We have physically gone to the Girne courts , found him whilst he was working on other cases and begged him to complete this for us but nothing
Thank you once again.
