Re: Reservoir Walk
Yes it is. In March we walked around the entire reservoir. Not so easy once you get to the other side and it took round 5 hours but so pleased we did it!

Re: Reservoir Walk
As you go through the village on left used to be laBelas fruit and veg store after that take next left carry on round (track rd) past a small Cementery and keep left and then follow the road up to the top of the dam wall. You can park your car there.

Re: Reservoir Walk
Thanks but what is there now where the YaBeles fruit and veg used to be? After finding the car park then which way to go - across the top of the dam or the other way around? Is the road ok for a normal street car or do I need a 4X4? Sorry for the questions but it is a bit distant from Catalkoy - lol.
No matter how hard the past, you can always begin again.

We went yesterday. Great walking for us & the dog. The intention must be t create a country park. Lots of wooden buildings dotted around. Even a mini mosque

Re: Reservoir Walk
Hi The laBelas store is closed but you will see the sign as it’s still on the building. You don’t need a 4x4! Once you get to the top park your car walk to the barrier and off you go!! Hope this helps

I wouldn't just stick to Salties for your fish and chips

Re: Reservoir Walk
It used to have small Crucian Carp in there before the water fell, but every time I went the "Good old Turkish" were fishing them out and putting them in a carrier bag
I've only come across one proper Turkish Angler here. The catch and realise doesn't make sense or exists.
I cant see how much meat you can get off a 4 oz carp.

How is the littering being managed please. The photo in Google Maps doesn't do it justice. I do hope that people are gradually being shown the benefits of tidy and clean facilities. With more wildlife being attracted due to plentiful water this area could be
a modern Eco visitor attraction.

Re: Reservoir Walk
Last time I was there, once you get up to the dam itself, you cannot drive any further as the road across the dam wall is blocked off, as is the rough track to the left that used to enable one to drive to the other end of the dam/valley.
Despite building viewing galleries, public toilets, info centre, well appointed bbq/picnic areas etc over 2 years ago, the road/track remains closed.
I can only assume the reason it remains like this is due to funding. Such a waste of a potentially fabulous Facility.
As already indicated It is still lovely to walk around. I hope that the track get made safe/tarmac surfaced soon.

Re: Reservoir Walk
The last time I fished there I caught a lot of small carp up to about a pound on float fished sweetcorn. I put a dead bait out and after a couple of hours inaction had a look and it was mostly eaten by something.
Afterwards we came accross a couple from the southside who had success using a corn mash witha bait feeder. They had a couple of cooler boxes crammed with mirror carp. When I said they should have put them back I just got the shrug.

Re: Reservoir Walk
Perhaps if the water levels can be maintained it would be possible to stock with rainbow trout and sell day-tickets for "catch and keep".
