Renewing Passport
I renewed my passport online on 27th October, received email from them, reminding me to send my old passport, which I sent on 30th October via DHL from Famagusta. I got an email on 10.11.2020 that they received the old passport. Application approved 10.11.2020, new passport on its way with TNT courier to English address, Arrived today!!
Now my son will send it via DHL Famagusta to us. Last year when my husband did the same, the courier even brought it to Dipkarpaz!!
Not bad!!!!

Glad that you've got it sorted out, and hopefully in time to do your residency all over again.

Re: Renewing Passport
My husband's passport went to the UK on Aug 14th. Our residency expired on Nov 5th. Had a message from DHL in Turkish to say it would be delivered on Nov 5th by DHL Express. All good? NO!!!
It is still in Istanbul in a loaded warehouse!
He had his police station appointment yesterday and cannot proceed further without the passport.
Why cant DHL hire a cargo plane or use lorries and ferries to get those packages over here? Frustrating!

Re: Renewing Passport
My expired passport was shipped to the UK with DHL on 9th October. HM Passport Office Belfast dispatched the new one on 22 OCT and DHL shipped it on 28 Oct. The old one was shipped on 31 October. On 7th November, I was informed by the TRNC DHL agent that my passport had arrived and would be delivered to me on the 9th. So far, I was very impressed with the service. However, the envelope contained the OLD one! I have tried to "Track and Trace" the package containing the new one. The waybill number was 'not recognised'.
I do appreciate that these are not normal times, but this is possibly the most important document one owns, and I find it very stressful not knowing where it is! Yesterday, I was told by Dagli Sigorata staff who have been very supportive and arranged the DHL shipment, that my passport was still in Istanbul! No delivery date can be confirmed at this time.

Now I'm worried!!! My passport is in England!!! I had it sent to my son, so he could add a couple of documents in the envelope as well as the old passport and the send it to Famagusta DHL office. This all worked perfectly last year.

Re: Renewing Passport
Bearing in mind the last 2 posts, you could consider getting your son to post your passport via international tracked and signed. My son sent police certificates to us on 14th October and they arrived at our local PO last Wednesday, having been in Girne for a week according to the tracker. The good thing is that you can track them all the way to Girne. It cost £11.45 and that included insurance in case they got lost and we had to pay for them again.dippersgirl wrote: ↑Fri 13 Nov 2020 1:31 pmI renewed my passport online on 27th October, received email from them, reminding me to send my old passport, which I sent on 30th October via DHL from Famagusta. I should add that my daughter sent a bank card the same way on 11th October and it got to us on 6th November.

I think that you're being a little harsh, given the exceptional circumstances...
I received an item ordered from USA, shipped via 'DHL Post' with delivery quoted as 2 weeks - it actually took 4 weeks, but I could see from the tracking website that it was stuck in Turkey for 2 weeks!
There's nothing much anyone could do about that!

Well Keith they could hire a cargo plane or use trucks and the ferry to bring over the packages and documents from their loaded Istanbul warehouse!

I agree with Panochat, to keep blaming the Pandademic for all that ails is disingenuous and in some cases a bit of a cop out.
