ATM charges
After a period of grace, TEB atms have started deducting 5% for withdrawing GBP , I'm using a Starling card , is there a cheaper option anywhere, can't get a Revolution card until I travel back.

With the Starling card can't you exchange to TL and draw that out?Stevechips wrote: ↑Wed 18 Nov 2020 2:47 pmAfter a period of grace, TEB atms have started deducting 5% for withdrawing GBP , I'm using a Starling card , is there a cheaper option anywhere, can't get a Revolution card until I travel back.

When did they start again? They did not charge me on Monday.
No matter how hard the past, you can always begin again.

Turkbank don't charge when I withdraw with my Starling card. It's the only bank I know of who don't charge

Re: ATM charges
Is there a limit as to how much you can take out a day? Last time we used a friend's Turk Bank account to transfer £3000 and it cost us £30 which in itself wasn't too bad but if I can draw £500 or more any time for free that is obviously an easier and cheaper method that I will adopt.

Re: ATM charges
Just looking at this thread again as I am struggling to find a bank other than Capital that don't charge to withdraw TL. Turk Bank is mentioned but when I tried the other week it was stating three lots of 20tl for 1000tl. OK not much but even then I prefer to have a choice of ATM's to use where I don't have to pay.

Re: ATM charges
Thats interesting Elizabeth because end of last year I put Halifax card in to draw out TL, refused it, Went in to Bank to check and was told, "we don't accept English cards" Obviously they have seen some sense.

Re: ATM charges
Yet again I have been to capital Bank today to use the ATM because they don't charge with Starling card and yet again their ATM is out of order. Luckily having read this thread yesterday we tried Iktisat a few doors away and money withdrawn without charges. Success.
On another note has anyone used their Starling card in SAH without issue? My neighbour tried today and it was declined yet there is nothing wrong with the card at all.

Re: ATM charges
Hi Trigger.
I often draw money out from that ATM at the garage and you are right it does not show any charges at that point, but when I look at my online statement it shows the amount drawn out with no extras added on, but is then accompanied by a charge usually a further £2.85p depending on the amount withdrawn. Not certain if this is my bank charge or the ATMs.

Re: ATM charges
Hi, I have just checked my statement and it is only the cash withdrawal showing, no charges as far as I can see. If it changes at a later day, I will update this post. Btw, it was my revolut card that I used.bevron wrote: ↑Sun 11 Jul 2021 6:24 amHi Trigger.

Just used the card at SAH with no problem so that is that bit resolved.Chriswright03 wrote: ↑Thu 08 Jul 2021 12:26 pmYet again I have been to capital Bank today to use the ATM because they don't charge with Starling card and yet again their ATM is out of order. I also tried to get cash from Near East ATM and it wouldn't even recognise the card. Tried at Garanti and it did but wouldn't to charge 4.99%. Credit West won't let me use it either. Still making my way round to find another bank where we can use it without charge.

You spend more in petrol and time running around in this heat just to avoid charges?

Yes that can be the case of course. I tend to do that sort of thing when I am passing to save that though. I try to use my brain a bit still.

Re: ATM charges
Yes I tried a couple of Near East ones and they accepted the card and PIN and then wait............................................eventually it came up saying it was not recognised and asked if I wanted to carry on or have the card returned. Err what do you think? Also at Capital yesterday is said temporary error contact the bank. Went a few doors down and used Iskit or whatever it is called without a problem.
