Demise of YES YES YES
Irrespective of overall political views, left or right, how anyone can condone Trumps current actions leaving 251,445 DEAD due to corona, hiding away in the White House bunker maintaining that he has still won the election leaving most hospitals in full capacity with no direction or action, withdrawing all USA troops from World 'hotspots' is beyond my comprehension!
Too many 'Blackshirts' on this Forum which probably brought down the first 'YES YES YES' topic thread!

Re: Demise of YES YES YES
To want to ensure an election was carried out fairly and to not want questions/debate closed down is fascist?
I think what you and the Antifa fellow travellers think of as fascism is a bit off mate, suggest you read a history book.
I'm totally against all of the things below;
State control including state control of industry, education and the press.
Mobs of thugs bullying people in the street.
The murder of millions of innocent non believers?
Relentless propaganda.
Control of elections.
Curtailment of freedom of speech.
Totalitarianism
An authoritarian government.
Because it is National Socialism. I wonder does it fit anything else, let me think......

EJS that stone wall has dried out ready for you to 'bang your head against' !! Went out last night and the subject of this board came up ....everyone present knew what political affiliations the 'regular political debaters' were but agreed the pointless arguments change nothing and are becoming extremeley boring.

We get attempts to close down a debate because of potential libel but it is fine to label someone a blackshirt with little fear of reprimand.

Re: Demise of YES YES YES
The majority do just that Mowgli but the marathon political debates, arguments, that are now deteriorating into insults are for most of us not what Kibcom is thought so highly for. The board has been so helpful for so many to assist in all things TRNC and it remains that way. Perhaps Soner deep political discussions about world politics should be moved to a specific area so the rest of us can just enjoy the day to day activities, interesting topics, problem solving that we all need to deal with here in the TRNC Of course we can all avoid topics we don't want to read but then we can always avoid the Board completely and, I nor my friends really want to do that.

I personally avoid the hair and beauty section, jobs, renewable energy etc etc.
I would imagine I've probably only ever started 2 threads, if that but if someone brings something up that I have an opinion on then I'll give it. I realise that people want echo chambers so that doesn't suit and tbh you are never going to change someone's mind on something but I do enjoy highlighting hypocrisy and the Yes Yes Yes thread is very fertile ground.

EJS I do understand where you're coming from but you must admit some of the comments really do stretch the boards rules ??

I think the problem is you get dragged into the weeds. Personally I prefer a couple of lines, believe it or not, but if you don’t reply to a 500 page post in detail you get accused of avoiding the point and on and on it goes.Up the Reds. wrote: ↑Fri 20 Nov 2020 3:58 pmEJS I do understand where you're coming from but you must admit some of the comments really do stretch the boards rules ??
I certainly wouldn’t be adverse to a ban on political posts/threads.
Admittedly I could just not contribute but to leave some of them unanswered is akin to agreement.

Re: Demise of YES YES YES
I agree with ETS - the discussion has (sensibly) been moved to a section which I imagine most users of the board avoid like the plague. Those who wish to contribute can continue to do so and (the majority) can ignore it.
As ETS says there are areas of the board which have no interest for me: I do not use a Kodi whatchamaycallit, I have no interest in stray dogs or any other domestic animals, I don’t want to buy property etc etc. As Soner advised I only use “Active Topics” to browse and will only look at those topics which interest me.
Sadly my SO and I have been “trapped” for almost a year now and are unable to return to the TRNC. The board was invaluable a few years ago when we started to consider moving there and when we subsequently did. And it continues to be so for the hundred and one “little things” that people want answers to, or the vitally important ones such as residency. And it’s lovely to keep up with the news from home and gossip from people whom we think we know so well but have not yet met.
I hope that I don’t come across as insulting when in discussion. If I ever have I hope I’ve apologised and do so now. The problem with electronic communication is, and always has been, that nuances are difficult to get across, and if someone takes you up the wrong way it is very hard to correct. Also humour, used by many of us in face to face communication, seems to rub some people up the wrong way and so is regularly slapped down in the board.
But we’re all different and that’s what makes life so interesting.

Blimey Mowgli we agreeing on stuff!!!
As for insulting I’m the wrong person to ask as I have the skin of a rhino but passion and a good heated discussion like you’d have down the pub is always fun. As you say nuance and tongue in cheek is always going to get missed in the cold light or a typed message.

I only read history books and for your erudite information, 'mates' come in packets of three sold at respectable pharmacies, have word with Richard Branson!

A failing lost world leader of what was an influential Country sees his citizens death toll reach 257,072, without a care in the world whilst playing golf letting his sycophantic legal team unable to win any of the 39 court claims of voter fraud.

As you are still going with the fascist jibes I realise you have no way of answering my question hence your stupid answer.Brinsley wrote: ↑Mon 23 Nov 2020 7:55 pmA failing lost world leader of what was an influential Country sees his citizens death toll reach 257,072, without a care in the world whilst playing golf letting his sycophantic legal team unable to win any of the 39 court claims of voter fraud.

As for your mates comment it’s just a shame I couldn’t have directed your Dad towards a machine that supplied them and let the world save some oxygen.

I did answer your question by suggesting YOU live through such fascist regimes, I have.
As to my Fathers' penis size, no rubber tree was ever wide enough to manufacture one to fit. I wonder about your little rabbit hole size!

This should be funny, what fascist regimes have you lived through? Ted Heath?
So let’s go through this a bit slower what makes a fascist regime? Take your time.

First can we please stop with the personal insults which have now descended to worse than playground name calling. I suspect this thread will be terminated quite quickly.EnjoyingTheSun wrote: ↑Mon 23 Nov 2020 9:35 pmSo let’s go through this a bit slower what makes a fascist regime? Take your time.
Before it goes to give a response to your question above:
From https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Fascism
“Fascists believe that liberal democracy is obsolete and regard the complete mobilization of society under a totalitarian one-party state as necessary to prepare a nation for armed conflict and to respond effectively to economic difficulties. Such a state is led by a strong leader—such as a dictator and a martial government composed of the members of the governing fascist party—to forge national unity and maintain a stable and orderly society. Fascism rejects assertions that violence is automatically negative in nature and views political violence, war, and imperialism as means that can achieve national rejuvenation. Fascists advocate a mixed economy, with the principal goal of achieving autarky (national economic self-sufficiency) through protectionist and interventionist economic policies.”
Does this sound familiar in many respects?
And for a long time I’ve thought that photographs like these are more than a little scary!

Yes sounds like communism as well to me. They are generally the ones calling everyone a fascist and using useful idiots to promote their aims I find.Mowgli597 wrote: ↑Mon 23 Nov 2020 10:13 pm

The National SOCIALIST Party didn’t run much of a mixed economy you’ll find.
Jesus you could do that with any person who has had a lot of photographs taken and it’s pure propaganda.
Here’s one of Jeremy Corbyn doing a Nazi salute for those wondering what sort of Socialist he is.
As for the insults I didn’t start calling people blackshirts.
