Nah they couldn't afford me. Not that I would last long as I am adverse to jargon, sound bites and using my brain before I put my mouth in gear.

Not using your brain seems to be an asset. As for doing the job for long, don’t worry good bad or indifferent you won’t last longer than a banana.
How’s your memory? It is vital to forget what actions led to what outcomes, it has to be a surprise every time.

Re: Current exchange rates GBP to TL
There is of course another angle to this so...Interest rates went up some days ago and the rate improved and so someone loses his job BUT the rates have not changed SO who are the arrogant yuppies that price a currency on a 'waving a wand' value of a currency as THEY have seen the 'SENTIMENT' change. I know !! It's how it works but completely crazy !!

The UK economy is deemed better placed to come out positively and more quickly from pandemic related recession. Investors will see this as a carpet bag scenario to make a quick profit. The loss of EU trade for the UK will only come onto the radar when the world economy enters recovery mode and world trade can pick up the pieces.
The TL remains a risky currency and is in little demand against the favourites. Turmoil in Turkey is not helping and internal decision to trade in Euros for exports further threatens the currency. TL volatility and the associated inflation and uncertainty has left many caught short. To invest heavily in TL particularly in TRNC banks is highly risky and should be avoided.
Hahahahahahaha
More u-turns than Capt U on his uboat.
You have been talking down the UK and talking up the lira for years.
Anyway. Eventually the truth outs and even the fanatical diehards have to accept the reality.
Just brexit to go and then you can join the human race.
How long before Waz posts brexit was right for the UK and he accepts he read it wrong?

Bought a new car today, obviously in Sterling. When I got back I worked out the price in Lira. I didn't realise I was that rich!!!

Bank mid rate different from actual buy/sell rate. The best exchange shop I've found is the one near the fountain/police roundabout in Kyrenia, right hand side just before, coming from Lapta way. Very small percentage spread.

Re: Current exchange rates GBP to TL
When I first visited in late1997 we got 400,000 OLD tl to the pound - within a few years it was around 2,000,000 to the pound. Then they got rid of all the zero's and 1,000,000 old tl became 1YTL, the unit we are using today.
So back in 1997 my 400000tl exchange rate was the equivalent of 0.4 of the current TL - and here we are staring at 11.5 today according to XE site.
It's not rocket science to guess where we are headed, eventually..... it's just the time scale which is tricky to forecast!!

I can remember visiting Turkey in the mid eighties and getting 20 old TL to the pound, so if my calculation is correct you get about 575,000 times more lira for a pound today
