Buying and Selling a car privately
I know the rules here change frequently but could someone let me know asap what the latest rules are (if they know of course) I'm the seller and a Swallow would be the buyer. Thanks.

Yes buyer is here but only for two more days. I thought the buyer had to take more proof of residency i.e. rental or own, and what about the Log Book at present in my position. Is the building you go to still the one behind the old CTA building in Lefkosia.

Thanks for that 13roman58, I thought it was a great deal more complicated than mimi2 said. Don't think I'll go further with it. There just isn't time. One last thing though. Do we go to Lefkosia or Girne? Thanks,

Re: Buying and Selling a car privately
We exchanged ownership last November. We met the seller at girne tax office , had copies of our passports gave some money and received the cars kocan in our names. We had already let the seller's insurance company know we were exchanging at 2pm to ensure we were insured to drive home the vehicle. Insurance is valid in the cars kocan name. Obviously the car was legally OK holding a valid tax and mot.

Did one a couple of weeks ago. Buyer and seller go to Girne Tax office with car docs. Process takes about 15mins.
You do not need document from Muthar/Noter
You need passport/kimlik and car docs. Stamps (not sure how many maybe 120 tl)

Some are wise and some otherwise.....

Thanks very much everyone - system hasn't changed much at all and its a great relief not having to hang around the Lefkosia offices.

Re: Buying and Selling a car privately
So from reading Jonnie's post no mukhtar letter is needed. What about the transfer documents? Is this done at the tax office ? Where do we buy the stamps ? At the tax office ? Thanks
