Some news re Sinovac

Found this information on an Newseu website... and thought it may be of interest.

World Health Organization (WHO) vaccine experts have said an interim analysis of clinical trial data from two Chinese COVID-19 vaccines "demonstrated safety and good efficacy against symptomatic COVID-19 disease."

These two Chinese vaccines are likely to be included into the emergency use list of the WHO by the end of April as more data is needed for the organization to approve the two jabs.

Just read today that whilst the Israelis coming out of lockdown is going very well in Chile it's a different matter with infections showing a steep increase.
Both countries have had successfully vaccination programmes but Israel used the Pfizer vaccine Chile used the Sinovac.
Hopefully it's not a sign of things to come.

Allegedly the Chinese have used an alternative to sinovac for their vaccinations.

Just what is the point of that post? Is it to wind people up, make them worried or what? At a time when many are stressed out enough you post something like that. Congratulations.

If you have a reliable source then include a link otherwise why bother?

Am with Chriswright03 100%. A totally pointless, useless post. Unlike many here I have both vacs and grateful for it, regardless of where it came from.

Yes, they would have to. According to this BBC article which I just read, Sinovac has the ability to provide vaccines for 10% of it's population. There is also Sinopharm which is approved in the UAE and Bahrain. There are at least 2 other vaccines under development in China. All vaccines are approved for emergency use only.

I believe you can get the anti body test checked in the labs if you are concerned about the efficacy.

In my humble opinion I don't care what vaccine we get here as long as we can get it in the first place

Sinovac is not licensed for use in the UK and it is not one of the vaccines awaiting approval either. Everyone who enters the UK has to quarantine, either at home or in a hotel,, whether they have been vaccinated or not.

Studies in Chile and Brazil indicate that Coronavac, made by Sinovac, gives only moderate protection, compared to others. There is also a question mark over how long any protection will last. A single jab gave only 3% protection after 2 weeks falling to zero after six. 2 innoculations gave 50+% protection but no-one yet knows for how long.
For myself, I will assume that the risk of getting C19 has not diminished and will continue masking and distancing. Plus I will get a booster in the Autumn, probably of another type of vaccine.
