Re: Vaccination Program
Off we went to SG this morning and joined the long line of people waiting to get in. There was a very elderly couple behind us struggling with standing for long periods but no chairs available so they just leant on each other as the line slowly moved forward. Eventually we made it inside the doors where three or four staff were trying to organise a proper line of people, more waiting and slowly moving on. One of the staff started asking people what vaccine they came for and we asked if we could have BioNTech having already had Sinovac and Astra. A couple of phone calls were made and we were told that it was fine to have BioNTech next! Major hurdle cleared! Then one of the staff started counting those who wanted BioNTech because they were running out. We would have taken the last two of only three jabs left and one of the elderly couple behind us would have had to come back another day!!
We did not think that was fair on them so we told the staff that we would come back again another day and let the elderly couple have our two jabs. They did not look like they would have many years left and probably needed it more than us anyway. Hey ho, try again another day but at least we know for sure that it is BioNTech that we need - lol.

Re: Vaccination Program
Just left SG hospital. First vaccines - Moderna. Required booster - BioNTech please. (That’s what’s being given in home country.)
No. Not after Moderna. So no booster? “No - no booster authorised for Moderna primary vaccine”
Am I going to die
Decided to try GAU. Now I’m the queue but the kind lady checked my Adapass. “Which booster?” “BioNTech please”. “Tamam! Please wait ten minutes - the nurse has just been called to an emergency.”
So here’s hoping

Is this your third jab? I.E. your first booster? If so then stick with BioNTech, it seems to be the one they have most of - lol. Good luck and let me know if successful so we can try there tomorrow.

Waddo. We had Biontech at Akçiçek Hospital last Friday. 2pm, no queue. In and out in 5 minutes.

Re: Vaccination Program
SUCCESS !
A fair wait but well worth it. Hopefully it’ll be recognised “back home” for the EU Covid Cert but if it is then that’s a plus.
It never ceases to amaze me (I don’t know why) how courteous Turkish/Cypriot (?) people are towards us old folk. A young lady offered me her seat while I was stood waiting while young, large gentlemen of a different nationality played on their phones.
And the staff couldn’t be more accommodating to a non-Turkish speaker as everyone offered help and advice to assist me.
Çok teşekkürler!

Re: Vaccination Program
I guess the moral of my adventures today is, as so often here, don’t take the first thing you hear as gospel. Try again, in a different place or a different person and get a different answer.
Repeat until you get what you’re looking for!
So, one vaccination centre (SG) told me there was no booster approved by the Ministry of Health after a double Moderna first vaccine course (administered outside the TRNC); GAU had no problem giving me the BioNTech I asked for.

Re: Vaccination Program
The answer to all questions in Cyprus (both North and South) if you want the truth, is and always will be, your own personnal experience! So much gets lost in the written word that you mostly end up with “Send three and four pence, we are going to a dance” answers instead of “Send reinforcements, we are going to advance” - old but true!
Glad you got what you wanted, despite a wait, also nice to see somebody who appreciates the courtesy of the Turkish Cypriots, the vast majority of whom are far more helpful than any other race I have lived amongst. Good for you, now take care out there and enjoy life.

Re: Vaccination Program
And so the game continues! Went to GAU this morning for BioNTech, failed, their internet was down and they could not register so off we went to Lapta Clinic. They were on coffee break but we waited and got in! Failed again!
We were told that because we had 2 Sinovac and then a booster of Astra that we were good till February because the combination of the Sinovac followed by the single dose of Astra meant that we had to wait 6 months from having the Astra before we could have the 4th booster!
So in February we have to go to the Girne hospital for our next jab. Beats me how this all works but that’s what we will do!

End of the saga! Dropped in to see if our new driving licenses were ready on the way back home - Win! Both ready after 3 weeks, now we are on a roll so dropped into Girne hospital to check on the information we had been given at Lapta. They checked everything and said we can have BioNTech now! Joined the short line , jabbed and left - job done, now at Cirali for breakfast - lol.

13R58, I was a little concerned about the answer I received from Lapta and that is why I asked at Girne myself. So that is Girne, GAU and SG who all agreed that I could have BioNTech as the next jab - as you know, GAU could not give because of lack of Internet and SG would have given but we gave it up for others, Girne filled the need and we will always go back there in future.
Go get it, we went just after midday and it was quiet then and the staff were very helpful.

Re: Vaccination Program
We had our 4th jabs yesterday at GAU and as a result have an interesting cocktail of vaccines as follows
1st person:-
1st jab Sinovac
2nd jab Sinovac
3rd jab Astra Zeneca
4th jab Pfizer
2nd person:-
1st jab Pfizer
2nd jab Pfizer
3rd jab Astra Zeneca
4th jab Biotech
I was going to try and add the 4th jab to our Ada Pass today as I was informed yesterday that we should be able to do so, but as people are having difficulty I wonder if we should go back to carrying our green cards with us for the time being.?

We were not far behind you on the 23rd so will pop in next week and see what we can get. Having had two Sinovac and one Johnson and Johnson no idea what we should have or if there is something we shouldn't have. As you said before information is scarce.

Well totally confused now. Like Sausage and Pash we also have had 3 Sinovac injections. Myself because of Anaphylactic reactions to food and drugs so was wary of an mRNA shot.
Will speak to Dr T on my next visit next week.

So if
1st Jab pfizer
2nd jab pfizer
3rd jab pfizer
Why the 4th jab? They are only giving 3 in the UK
and I can't find any written reason for the 4th.

Re: Vaccination Program
Oh we’ve more than caught up with the latest news, two cases of the Omicron virus in U.K. so all change back to the way we were before with masks and testing and travel requirements. Pfizer is saying it’s confident it can have a vaccine ready for this in next 100 days. So you could all end up with a fifth jab! You may end up getting a toaster even quicker!

Re: Vaccination Program
just today some statistics were published.
from 24 beds in ICU , 21 are occupied.
from the 21, 14 are intubated. 7 are on high flow.
from the 21,
- 9 are unvaccinated and are in a very bad condition, much worse as the other ones below:
- 8 are double vaccinated or even got a 3rd booster with Sinovac
- 1 got 2 x sinovac and a Biontech booster
- 1 got 2 x Astra
- 1 got a Janssen shot.
- 0 persons got 2 x biontech
- 0 persons with 2 x astra or biontech / 1 x janssen + a biontech 3rd booster.
(comes to 20 persons, not 21)
so,
- if possible, get a Biontech booster asap.
- if you got (2 x ) Sinovac, consider it as "not vaccinated" and get 2 x Biontech on top.

I'm sure pro vaxx or otherwise we all wish everyone makes it out waddo
But if the argument now is get the vaxx you can still end up in ICU but you will be much better off than the 40% in there not vaxxed then I think the argument wears very thin !!

Re: Vaccination Program
point is, that of 21 in ICU, 19 are unvaccinated or "badly" vaccinated,
here: mainly with sinovac.... and one with 2 x sinovac and a "booster" with Biontech , which you consider to be a "single vaccination".
so, more then 90% are not or not proper vaccinated.
then two patients, less then 10%, got a astra-janssen vaccination.
to date, not a single one in ICU with 2 x biontech and also no one with a, eg, astra - janssen + a booster with biontech.
