After saying vaccinated didn't need an antigen test over the Christmas period if vaccinated
Am I correct in reading unvaccinated must stay away from places and no more than 10 people at home and if vaccinated a valid 72 hour antigen test will be required.

That's what I read in one of the local papers.

COVID 19 MEASURES WILL BE APPLIED… UNVACCINATE PEOPLE WILL NOT BE ABLE TO ATTEND THE CELEBRATIONS New Year's celebrations will be held within the framework of COVID 19 measures, and concerts and events organized by municipalities in recent years will not be held, upon the advice of experts to stay away from crowded environments. Unlike last year, while hotels and restaurants are preparing entertainment programs to welcome the year 2022, vaccination and testing conditions will be required at the entrance to these venues, and unvaccinated people will not be able to attend the events. Vaccinated people who will participate in the events must also have a negative PCR test for the last 72 hours or a negative antigen test for the last 48 hours.

I know it says in Kabris and the BRS are also reporting that a PCR or Antigen test are required if you are fully vaccinated but on the Ministry of Health website it says both in English and Turkish that if you are fully vaccinated that NO test is required from the 27th of December, prior to this latest announcement it did state that test were required

New decisions were announced by the Supreme Committee on Infectious Diseases today apparently.
How those decisions will be policed remains to be seen....

This is from the TRNC Ministry of Health web page now. No test required if fully vaccinated. BRS say different of course but I don't think they make the rules.

It’s been pointed out to the BRS when they emailed their notice. They were supposed to be checking but haven’t yet issued a correction.

They sent me this link as their source, but it says the same as was pointed out to them - Adapass Tier II, Vaccinated, No test

Why on earth would anyone want to mix with the masses, just to celebrate, what to all intents and purpose is just another day. Bonkers.

That is the most common sense I have seen written on here for days BJB and my thoughts exactly.

Not going to jeopardise 2 years of keeping safe for one night of celebrating in a crowded environment. Sods law comes to mind.

We are stopping in too. Wife is unwell so we have spent around 3 hours looking for somewhere to get tested… but no joy. Will have to try again tomorrow.

I think that the new strain of the virus is more contagious than ever at the moment. From the sounds of back home in England and from my experiences here over the last few days, things are really starting to get stretched.

All the best for 2020 btw

Sorry Deniz1, that you will be on your own. Come on Kibcomers, lets lift a glass to other people on the forum who will be on their own and wish them all the best for the upcoming year. Mind you, it will be a lot earlier than midnight in our house, I still haven't recovered from my dreadful cold which just will not shift.

Sorry to hear your other half is unwell, hope it's not covid but if it is, hope it's the mild variety. We're staying in too, aren't allowed out, but agree that wouldn't be going out if we could. Number of cases in last 24h have doubled here so please stay safe anyone who is partying tonight.

Happy New Year.

Hope that all of you who are not well, recover quickly.
Like many of you, I had no intention whatsoever of going out last night, and was fast asleep by midnight.
Happy New Year to you all, let's hope this one is a better one.

Those who did go out, I am interested in whether they were asked for their antigen results.
We popped out for an early drink and it was still very quiet inside when I went to pay. I do feel for businesses

We went out last night and apart from the restaurant next to Mumbai , the large Turkish one called Mare something, everywhere seemed very quiet. We were not asked for a pass or antigen test and there was a couple who had come over from Larnaca who said they were not even vaccinated. It\s no use putting rules in place to try to curb the virus if those rules are never enforced or policed.
The Turkish restaurant I mentioned looked to be packed to the rafters, I thought limits had been put on numbers attending venues .

Elizabeth I believe limits were put on numbers, but as we all recognize rules here are made to be bent, ignored, or trampled on (depending on who you are of course) we as you know are supposed to obey them to the letter. As the the unvaxed Larnaca couple, why can't they have stayed the other side

She was negative in the end, though I am not truly convinced. Very similar symptoms as people at work who have tested positive.

Happy belated new year btw.

A few acquaintances tested positive between Christmas and just after New year's eve with mild symptoms. since then we have not gone out as have no idea who has been in contact with them. Cases rising but rules changing like they are going down so definitely looking after no 1. People think we are crazy as vaccinated but I want another year of no colds etc, last time was just before covid 7 days in bed 10 days off work to find out 15 people in our company on the Friday had been ill and 2 in hospital with catchable pneumonia!! Never want that again!!. I had always thought even if you test negative it's good manners to keep your socialising down for 10 days in case but see now as long as you are vaccinated it's OK.
