Ear wax removal
Hi,
Could anyone tell me if any of the private hospitals here in NC do ear wax removal by suction.
I got this done back in the UK some time ago but I have not been able to get back for a while now.
It was a suction machine plus camera. Not a pretty sight to watch, ha ha. It was completely painless.
The last time I went to a private hospital here the doctor used a "metal" instrument inside my
ear, painful and I thought quite dangerous. He did one ear then I walked out.
If anyone knows, or has had done the suction method the name of hospital, doctor, tel No, would be
much appreciated. Thanks.

Re: Ear wax removal
Earlier this year the hospital you mention was still using the "flush out" method followed by a pair of "pincers" antiquated to say the least. They could have improved by now of course.

Hubby went to the one mentioned which is now Suat Gunsel, last year, saw the ear nose and throat lady and he was very impressed with the treatment and yes, it was suction....

Pity they didn't tell Dr Turk then. He certainly used a large syringe of liquid followed by pincer thing.

Re: Ear wax removal
I had mine done at kamaroula hospital, very good. He used a probe with a camera and a TV screen in front of you. Scanned my nose, throat and ears.
Showed wax in my right ear and used the same probe to spray a fluid in the ear then suck everything out. Showed me on the screen that everything was clear. Cost 350tl (6 months ago)

The ear specialist is a Dr. Memhet. He has a small clinic near the old Bektash in Girne. We have used him for 15 years. He has all modern equipment cameras , suction etc.
He is very very good, very reasonable and helpful. You van normally get an appoint immediately 0533 872 0872

Maybe I should have kept my Dyson and set myself up in business - lol.
No matter how hard the past, you can always begin again.

Yes certainly. Easiest way is at the Bellapais lights turn left by the fresh Fish shop then you will pass the rear of Pia Bella Hotel on your right.
Go approx 200 mts, before the T junction turn left. Go approx 75 mts turn left . As you turn in to that sokak Dr Memhets clinic is in the first building on the right hand side. It has a small sign.

Re: Ear wax removal
I use Olive Oil with a small Syringe (no needle just the plastic injector) and gently squirt into both ears. Massage around the ears to work it in, then flush out with same Syringe and warm water. Repeat the process if need be. I had two lots of Anti-Biotics from Quacks for what they said was repeated ear infections last year but neither course worked. The problem was that both ears, intermittently, had excruciating pain when the plane cabin depressurises coming in to land but not every time. Fine taking off though. I've never had pain like it and i have Sciatica and Bicep Tendinitis. Tried this home remedy and both ears have been fine since on the last 2 flights.
For those that don't want to try the above, (and bearing in mind i knew before i did that my eardrums were not t-bagged), there is also a little gadget available on Amazon called Tvidle. Bit pricey but if needed regularly would pay for itself.

You are most welcome. Glad you got it sorted. So now you can hear again . He is very good and about 20 quid for fast efficient service in a private clinic is pretty good.

Re: Ear wax removal
Totally agree. I know this is irrelevant as I am not in the UK but over 3 year ago I had this done at a private ear clinic
in the UK and the cost then was £80 !!!
So for 400tl it is really good.

Went to see Dr Memhet yesterday - did not have an appointment. Both of my ears were blocked, and he sorted them out for me. Have been going to see him for about five years.

Re: Ear wax removal
We were first recommended to him about 14 years ago. Always found him very good. He also discovered my wife's fracture in her ankle bone late one Friday night whilst doing his stint at the State hospital.
