Re: Electricity and Alcohol Prices Reduced
The Council of Ministers reduced the funding for alcoholic beverages.
For imported drinks, the fund per liter decreased from 50 TL to 25 TL.
According to this; A new regulation on alcohol hike: FUNDS ARE REDUCED: from 50 TL to 25 TL per liter for imported spirits, from 40 TL to 15 TL for local spirits, from 20 TL to 7 TL for wine, from 15 TL to 5 for beer. It drops from 17.5 TL to 6 TL for draft beer.

I can predict that no reductions will be reflected in bar/restaurant prices and supermarkets will be tardy in any tariff changes.

Re: Electricity and Alcohol Prices Reduced
I've done some calculations, using the figure of 4,000 TL that I've heard that many people have received for their electricity use for the month of March.
Based on the published Kibtek tariff, this roughly equates to a usage of 1,400 Kws, and gives a total bill of 4.071.83 TL.
The newly-revised rates would reduce that bill to 3,054.33 TL.
The rates applicable for February would have meant that the bill would only have been 1,382.22 TL.
The people who were struggling, will still be struggling, as the increase from the February rates (for 1,400 Kws usage) at the newly-announced revised rates will still be massive, at 1,672.11 TL.

Re: Electricity and Alcohol Prices Reduced
I think I would have had a heart attack if I'd had a bill of 4000TL or worse, as some of the figures I've heard about. Of course, it's folk with families, who will be using AC in more than one room at a time, have more washing, dishwashing than those of us who are couples or singles. Must be an absolute nightmare and a real worry.
I have no idea who came up with the initial figures, plucked from thin air I suspect, to see how much they could get away with. Or is it possible that the new reduced rates were the real rates thought of (and plucked from thin air), and putting them up higher, getting a huge reaction, would make people accept these new "reduced" rates that bit easier? Whatever, it does seem that ordinary folk and businesses are being forced to cough up for the non-payers with huge debts.

I am envious Deniz, I consider that I'm mean re consumption and warn anyone coming to the house, that it is a cold house with heating in only the Living/Dining room with floor to ceiling curtains either end to keep heat in that room only. Only put washing machine on when its full, same with dishwasher. There is a pool, which rarely gets used. Have stopped putting outside lights on and other savings, but still had a bill of over 2000tl if you believe SMS or 1,760 if you believe Paypoint System.!

Re: Electricity and Alcohol Prices Reduced
My bill was 3565 tl which was the minimum I was expecting but we used Aircon to heat and it was on 24/7 in lounge or bedroom as of the cold. Not using it at all now so expect my usage to be half .if the reduced bill comes to c 2700 tl I will take that and expect it to half whilst not using Aircon. Agree with others they won't be rushing to reduce the prices ...

Re: Electricity and Alcohol Prices Reduced
I fished something out of the TC net...
- the share of fuel costs in the electricity price is 72%, the other fixed costs are 28%.
note: as far as i understood these costs does not include investments.
- When the price of electricity was set at 2.7 TL, fuel costs were 33% lower as today.
- Kibtek has to buy the (private) Aksa electricity (which a previous government "forced" them to buy with fixed purchase quantities) for 2.30 kWh (plus that maybe not quite 28% anymore).
so, that seem to be the "real costs" (incl profit for Aksa)
- means, roughly: with the new discounts (since the first 250 kWh/month cost one lira and then 1,70TL, 2,25.... ), kibtek sells the electricity for about half the cost, which means that enormous deficits will accumulate by the end of the year
in total predicted to be about 2.4 billion TL = 150 million euros, about half of all deficits in the state budget (2.4 billion kibtek, then a total of 4.6 billion TL, a total of about 280 million euros)
this naturally raises questions.
- where does the money come from to subsidize kibtek?
- where does the money come from to finance the next load of fuel?
the finance minister has already said that he has no money for either.
- where else is the money supposed to come from?
and
- who decided on these discounts and on what basis?

If you are east side, have a look in at Wines of the World. I was in there on Tuesday, and they had only put Mollys up by 15TL a bottle. Girl told me they had to put up spirits by 50TL, but they hadn't put them up further like some supermarkets. Can't say if they have brought prices down since the reduction.susiesusie wrote: ↑Thu 07 Apr 2022 4:54 pmBeen to 3 supermarkets today. No sign of booze reduction.. how surprising is that !

Raise discounts not legalized
The government's decision on electricity and alcohol price hike reductions has not yet been published in the Official Gazette, nor has it become legal. The Council of Ministers, on Tuesday, April 5, took a step back in the price hikes in electricity and alcohol, as a result of the public's reaction, and reduced the price hike. The FIF was lowered in alcohol, and the new tariff was shared by reducing the price hikes in electricity. Although three days have passed and 3 different Official Gazettes have been published, these decisions have not yet been published in the Official Gazette. The decisions taken by the Council of Ministers must be published in the Official Gazette in order to become legal.

Apparently the reason the discounts are not in the Gazette, is that the team dealing with it, all have covid.

No, there is no "cheap" night rate any more. Rate that you pay goes by units used, only first 250 units is at 0.98 and then increases in stages.benjaminbutton wrote: ↑Sat 16 Apr 2022 12:38 pmDoes this mean we're down to using dish washer etc, during the night again.
