Price of a new water meter
My water meter stopped working and had to go to the Esentepe Belediyesi this morning to report it. Have to say chap arrived about half an hour later to fix it. He gave me the bad news I needed a new one. Fine go ahead can't live without it. My husband went up to pay for it. I'm flabbergasted 2200 TL!! They wouldn't top my card up until the meter was paid for. I was under the impression that the meters belonged to the Belediyesi so why are we paying for them?? My husband actually spoke to the Mayor and he wasn't prepared to budge. My question is what do other Belediyesi charge for changing the meter? Roll on the amalgamation with Catalkoy.

Re: Price of a new water meter
This happened to neighbours of ours in May 2021, they were charged ₺750 connection charge and had to pay for 763 tonnes for water 'received'. As they live in UK, I pay the bills on their behalf and was able to pay it back in instalments. Another neighbour, who had their meter replaced at the same time, was only informed last month of the debt he owed and he lives here permanently.
Unfortunately, lots of the old meters are gradually packing up so more and more people will be getting a shock, especially as we all pay 'rent' for them in our monthly bill.

It was last year but in Ozankoy i was quoted 350 tl for a standard meter and about double for a pre pay card type meter.... Sorry but Iwasn't interested in that one so didn't pay attention.
Obviously they may have increased since last October but nothing like what you were quoted...
C'pass

Wow! As mentioned they are breaking down, lapta have already converted back to readings again. In bellapais 4 have already died on me but to date I am assuming it's only batteries as no charge has been made after they were taken away and put back.

snd1966 think you only pay if a 'brand' new one is put in.

We had to pay for a new one in Ozankoy a few years ago cannot remember how much it was though.
We all thought the meters were the responsibility of the Belediye but obviously they are not!

The Esentepe mayor does'nt charge the locals for much that's why they keep him in office, his attitude is let the Yabancis pay!

Thats your answer kiplet. Can you imagine a normal country having two tiers for anything. The word r ----t would be headlines in papers, on TV and all social media!!

I think that perhaps Esentepe is unique in the two tier charging business. Have never heard complaints of other districts employing this kind of tactic.
Will be interesting to see what happens when Esentepe and Catalkoy are merged.

BB I know that we pay all pay the same in Tatlisu. I haven't heard anyone complain about charging from other Beles, other than Esentepe.

With regard to transferring an electricity meter into another name a couple of weeks ago Kibtek’s new charge is TL 1977 for Cypriot & TL 5931 (i.e, 3 x) for non Cypriots subscribers!

12 years ago it was 400tl he ho
If I were faced with a non TRNC ID passport I would want more security deposit you can soon get through 6000 tl in ac in the summer
At least with a TRNC citizen you can pin them for debt on return

Re: Price of a new water meter
A year ago I paid 470 TL to change a meter into my name so this is a massive hike for both Cypriot & non Cypriot subscribers
