20 and 50 Sterling Notes
In lieu of the fact that Exchange Bureaus are no longer accepting the above here in the TRNC what do you think the ATM machines will be dispensing now?

I know that you mean the old notes BB. One would hope that the old notes have been removed and replaced with new. If you need Sterling, to be on the safe side, I'd use an ATM attached to a bank. Right enough, I tend to do that anyway, just in case my card gets swallowed.

Re: 20 and 50 Sterling Notes
When you say old, I'm assuming you mean the "paper" not plastic. Thats what I thought but then someone who works in a bank happened to mention there was a shortage of the "plastic" sterling so wasn't sure what outcome would be if I went to one of the very few banks that dispense sterling. I suppose there would be a message of some sort on the screen. Sadly the only sterling dispensers in the Alsancak area are not attached to a bank so it means a trip into Girne - YUK.

Have only received the new plastic £20 and £50 notes from the ATM's I have used in the last month. Tend to use TEB ATM's but never on a Monday morning as they are nearly always empty!
No matter how hard the past, you can always begin again.

BB yes I did mean old paper not plastic. Probably shortage due to people changing old notes. All ATM's should be dispensing the new notes, but I can understand you'd be unwilling to take the risk.
Know what you mean about a trip into Girne, something to be avoided. I absolutely hate driving there these days, far too much traffic and only go if I have to.

Maybe wrong, but think Vialla is saying they only go to NC in October, so too late to change the old notes because Lilnrob has said the 15th September is the last date to change the notes.

Yes last day for using in UK is 30th September, but here in TRNC they have stopped taking them. Cut off date was 15th September at Central Bank, other banks had earlier cut off dates.

Yes, some of the exchange bureau caught some people out. I was lucky as the Bureau I use regularly stuck a warning notice in advance although he did say that Central Bank would still take them provided you had sufficient to to exchange. Well past the date now though.
