Help with camera to purchase
Hi, since we have moved to Famagusta, we have enjoyed exploring our new environment and I have been keen to take more photographs again. My phone is not bad, but where it really lets me down is bright sunshine. I need to buy a camera that has a viewfinder for my eye to see the scenery/object I want to photograph. With the phone I cannot see anything!!!! I used to have a nice camera, can't remember what it was, but I gave it to my niece long ago . I don't need anything too clever, just a good middle of the road camera.
Any advice???

Hi Dippy!
You will probably get a lot of different opinions and options suggested, because there are as many opinions as there are solutions...
However - having looked at what is available on the 'New' market, I think that you would need to pay over £200 to get a digital camera with an optical viewfinder, although you might find a second hand one at a specialist camera shop for less.
If you have the patience to choose a scene and compose it carefully, then you might be better off with an old fashioned film camera (One of those where you take the film in to be developed).
There are a ton of these on the second hand market - just look in any camera shop!
It will be interesting to see what other solutions are suggested .

Re: Help with camera to purchase
Thank Keith, I definitely don't want a proper 'film' camera!! Can one even have them developed here in TRNC???
We don't know Famagusta so well yet, are there likely to be 2nd hand shops where they sell cameras??? I haven't even discovered shops that sell new ones!!
We are exploring the old Famagusta and enjoying it, so much to learn all around, on top of the walls, in the moat inside the walls, more hidden places than we imagined!!

What I would really like is an address of a camera shop in Gazimagusa!!!
Anybody can help with that???
We do not have a car or driving licences, so going to Girne or Nicosia is a bother and we only will do that as last resort!!
Please Help!!

Does it have an optical or electronic viewfinder?? That's what I really want
I would buy if it has an optical or electronic viewfinder. I just can't get on with a screen like phones
