Firestick & Modbro

Thanks to great help here in the spring, I managed to watch live TV using Modbro.

Just got back to the island and its gone dumb and I am unable to get Modbro to co-operate. It says its uploaded a software update, but nothing unusual in that, they all update regularly. All channels are pre-recorded snips, nothing live.

So any suggestions for live TV through the firestick please? TIA

You need a guy called Yen on 0533 860 4531 - he's top notch with firestick, tv etc.

Thanks all.

As I am not one of Yen's customers and am unlikely to be, I would feel guilty asking him a technical question when he makes a living from this area of technology.

You could always pay him to come around and get it working for you - he doesn't charge a lot!

That was my original meaning

I did not buy anything from him, but could not sort the Firestick I brought from England, he came all the way to deepest Dipkarpaz for a reasonable charge, sorted it and it was great. A few month later we had a similar problem to you, That time we gave the Firestick to a friend to bring to Yenner, (There was a change in the internet provider/connection whatever, not to do with the Firestick.) He sorted it in no time and did not charge again,

Alternatively there are a lot of tutorials on here and on Youtube how to get the best out of your Firestick. If you look in the section you have posted in for this thread from Navek there is plenty of help.

Thanks all - especially Chris.

Chris, it was you who helped me get it all set-up in the Spring. Its just that those settings no longer seem valid.

I see Navek has helpfully re-listed a page at the end of his very long thread and I will now study that. Others have told me to get a low cost VPN and that eliminates all these problems. I really don't know, but will follow Navek's instructions initially.

Mish you will find from time to time you do have to go into your apps and update them. Most of them come up with an update is available and ask if you want to update or carry on without. Sometimes it is worth a quick Google to see if there is an update.

I find Mobdro very poor picture quality and usually use Redbox https://redboxtv.app/. Livenet tv is another good apk and Troypoint is a great site to keep you up to date with your Firestick.

Navek, thank you for your suggestion. I am already referring to your excellent pages.

Chris thanks for writing a PM, I have responded this morning.

Will now try and re-set the thing and start over again.

Good thing we have time for this sort of stuff when we are on holiday!

Well, I am getting nowhere with this, but don't think its the firestick.

On my way, trying to tune the firestick in, a volume slider graphic suddenly appeared to the left of the screen of my Samsung LCD TV.

Despite turning the tv off, removing the mains plug and even disconnecting the firestick, the graphic remains. It was showing a shaded area indicating a level of volume, but now it is blank. I tried resetting the firestick, but could not make the volume setting work on the fstick remote. I don't know the IR codes for the Samsung either, as it appears to have a 6 digit remote and googling only throws up a 4 or 5 digit coded remote.

I cannot reset the TV via the remote either, using an extended press of the 'exit' key as suggested in the handbook.

The TV model is - LE22B450C4W.

Does anyone have a clue please? Thanks

If you Google ' LE22B450C4W issues ' you will see that this could be a known fault, and you may need a repairman.

Thank you, and its dead right !

The Oz video shows how simple the problem is, and can be cured.

If I were at home its something I could easily cope with. But finding a Samsung repair shop in Famagusta that has a supply of parts may be something else.

Perhaps I should take it to Stephanis in Paralimni, I will email them and see if they can cope with it. Otherwise I will just have to give-up for now, get the part when back home and do the repair on my next trip.

All help has been very much appreciated.

The main Samsung dealer here appears to be 'Marks World' - they have a shop with a large Samsung sign nearly opposite the Karakum (Girne) Lemar branch (and at least one more in Lefkoşa.

I'm sure that they have servicing facilities, and I think that they should be familiar with this issue, and have the parts to hand
