Hi,
I'm looking for a recommendation for a "back doctor".
At the moment I'm in considered pain, lower right hand side.
Got a tens machine attached but given little relief.
I have suffered with back pain for a number of years but nothing like it is now.
Getting out of bed this morning took over 5 mins, ouch.
A few years ago I went to a large hospital in Karakum but was not impressed with treatment I was offered. Painkillers.
Any recommendation would be appreciated. I can travel to any area. Thanks.

My Wife had a procedure for lower back pain in May, very good. Dr Ahmed Ebeoglu works at Kolan hospital, his mobile number is 05488 776011.
Give him a call he's in Lefkosa, you'll need an MRI scan, if you're in the BRS you'll get discounts through Kolan.
Good luck.

Hi - sorry to hear that must be awful. I have started to see someone in Karakum - he sent me off for X-rays and I am back Thursday.. he seems good and professional. He’s only in Karakum Mondays and Thursdays - Saath Yolingummi 0392 816 1161 (opposite the old Harley Davidson shop)

Geordie, sorry to hear about your problem. i too, like many others, suffer from such pain, but it is important that you get it checked out properly before any treatment is given. mine turned out to be spinal stenosis, and the physiotherapy i received did absolutely nothing to give any relief. perhaps an mri might be more useful than an x-ray to you.
if it is such a complaint there are some options available to you, so research is the key. i've suffered with mine for a long long time now, and i know that surgery is probably the only answer, but i'm reluctant to have that here, apart from the cost factor.
i wish you well, i hope you get the best advice.

boaz58 could i ask what sort of treatment you're wife had, and what her problem was. if it was the same as i've got it would be interesting to know of someone who actually has had surgical treatment for it, and the outcome. thank you for your advice.

First port of call, Orthopaedic Surgeon Dr Can Çobanoğlu... Never underestimate his skill in fixing problems without surgery. 4 family members cured with nothing like invasive surgery.

Hi Geordie, my wife had an MRI which the Dr diagnosed as a slipped disc. She had a consultation and it was decided that she would have an operation to remove the particles of broken disc causing the pain. The op took place at the Kolan hospital, an overnight stay and thereafter about a month's recouparating, 3 follow up consultations been 100% better since.

As a retired chartered physiotherapist I offer this cautionary advice. Seek QUALIFIED and experienced orthopaedic qualified examination in the first instance. This will then provide a diagnosis, which can be referred for a 2nd opinion if you have any doubts. From the diagnosis a treatment option plan can be discussed. Conservative or surgical way ahead. The initial diagnosis will also rule out, or confirm, the possible/probable cause(s) of the problem.

I 100% agree.

I have seen Dr Can and Dr Ebeoglu, both excellent. But, you MUST listen if they give advice.

If they told you to lose 4 stone, of course its difficult, would you? If they said give up golf/bowls/ten-pin bowling, would you? Swim every day, etc.

You may need X-Rays, MRI and CT scans, you may need to visit within hours of a very painful episode.

Most back pain is to do with discs, but there are so many individual specific problems around the discs.

My specific solution was to have steroids injected directly into my facet joints on the operating table, whilst awake!

This was critical so the doctor, who was Dr Cem Sen, (the anaethetist, recommended by Dr Ebeoglu), needed to view the live X-Ray (Fluroscopy Machine).

Its not cured, but I can live with the conditions.

Dr Ahmet Ebeoglu operated on my back last November and wish that had been done sooner. Excellent surgeon and gentleman, he explains everything in detail. He requested 3 and 6 month check ups all included in original price. You can barely see the scar.
Highly recommend this surgeon.
