Casn anyone give me directions to place in Lefkosia were you have to register and pay for phone.
I have had phone for 4 years here and I have just received a message telling me that my phone is not registered and that I have to register it. The only directions they gave me is that it is behind Dominoe pizza, Dereboyu, any help would be appreciated.

Use this on your phone or tablet, and it will take you there!

Dominos is on the corner, and BTHK is just down the street in a one storey building.

You do need to ring first for an appointment due to social distancing arrangements - take a mask!

Keith' s location is spot on.

It's a little building looks like a Bungalow down the side of an apartment, lots of student type people there.

I didn't make an appointment, but that was June last year,

Their number is 0392 227 9611 or 0392 600 9000, that is unless they have been cut off (Joke) I think.

iPhone 6 240tl tax, still cheaper than buying a phone here.

How lucky are you then? 4 years without registering your phone and not caught out. Most people I know who don't register get 89 days and on 90th day are only able to receive, not send.

If you buy a new phone here, the duty is already paid. I bought one from Sharafstore a while back, and only thing I had to do was get a new sim, as the original was a tad on the large side. Young chap in the shop said he was a baby when I got the original sim!

That's an expensive 'phone that's been bought abroad - it's the import duty actually, the part of the fee relating to registration is quite small.

Generally better to buy a 'phone here if you're living here, (as long as you can find the 'phone that you want) then there's no extra tax to pay...

It's not the SIM as such, it's the 'phone.

You are allowed to use an unregistered 'phone for 90 days in any one year (resets on Jan 1st).

There have been plenty of threads on 'how to' and 'where to' register and pay your dues on this forum - just use the search facility at the top left of the screen, and all will be revealed!

If you buy a phone here, the phone is already registered and tax paid. You can go into any Turkcell shop and buy a sim card. I don't remember if you need passport or not for a payg sim. I have a feeling I needed to show passport, but that was about 15 years ago, and things have changed. You will definitely need it, plus house contract/kocan/rental agreement if you want to go on Turkcell contract. Prob better taking it with you anyway, just in case.

No, as long as you keep to your UK sim as the only sim in use in the phone.

So if I visit for 89 days twice a year and have two UK phones then I could just move the TRNC SIM between the two phone and I'm sorted. Didn't know it re-sent on Jan 1st. Where can I find that information written down somewhere? Thanks
