PUZZLED - MISSING BOY SINCE SAT IN HASPOLAT

Post by BLUE BUTTERFLY »

As I don,t get the chance to socialise very much, I used to find forum 44 very informative and good for local gossip/news. I like to browse all the forums to find out what is going on locally , but, due to commitments, I cannot get on very much.

Tonight, on another forum, I saw a post asking for help in finding a 7 year old boy who has been missing since saturday from the village of Haspolat generated only 3 replies and they were more concerned with where the village is than the fact that a small child is missing.

From previous experience of 44, news of a missing dog would have guaranteed 100,s of responses, posters in supermarkets, people offering up prayers for it,s safe return and armies of people out searching.

I am very puzzled as to why the news of a missing small child does not merit the same response/publicity.

Anyone got any thoughts on this?

I thought it was on the Embargoed chat page, but i cannot find it. t was in today's news, and the lad is from the vllage of Haspolat. Hopefully more details can be found to be posted later. but please do no be despondent. On the old Cyprus 44 there woul be several people on lin at the same time, ad they would post on there. We new forums do not as yet have the membrship and sthe response is bound to be less. We need to see a picture of the boy, but of course Haspolat is in Nicosia ad most of us live on the coastal areas. Hopefully tomorrow someone can put more details. Or better still there willbnews that he is found. We can but pray that he willi be.

I am hoping that this little boy will be found safe and sound, my TC husband is coming in with coffee shop gossip but I won,t repeat it as I dont think we should go the way of other forums, past and present, and speculate.

Let,s just all hope this baby is ok.

C offee shop gossip is often near the truth - far more than ex pat gossip, but as it sounds nasty, let's hope it is false.
So very strange though that there is nothing heard of the boy. He can't have gone far, unless he is locked in a building somehwere. In a community it is most unusual- unless something dreadful has happened. Such a dreadful shame

Hi Marions,

I beg to differ, but having had years of experience in listening to 'coffee shop' gossip and later finding out the facts, I find the gossip is usually nowhere near the truth, and is in fact more or less the same as the expat speculation. A lot of the expats are similar in their mind set as some of the coffee shop lot, ie, they sit in their little cliques, only going to the same places every day, and speaking to the same people, making up what they don,t know. Can I ask you, you say IT sounds nasty, what have you heard that sounds nasty? and where have you heard it?

good points, and maybe people ARE the same the world over. When I say 'it' sounds nasty, I mean the situation, and reading the papers and trying to read into it as to how the boy can just disappear in a community, just doesn't seem good. the only conclusion is that something bad is afoot, but of course there could be a perfectly good explanation. I hope so.
Gossip is gossip it is true, but they often say that truth is stranger than fiction. So what isgossip?

I am just very concerned!

Saw in the newspaper today that there seems to be no news of this lad. It doesn't make sense. do you think that some other family member has taken the boy to what they think is a better home|? Where oh where could he have gone?

HI Marions This is a complicated topic, but I hope you are right as regards he may have been taken by a relative. If this is the case, then hopefully, he is safe and being looked after. Insallah

The sad thing is that with all the rain we have had the grass has really grown high and that there are hundreds of wells in fields which a child could easily fall into, I pray that has not happened.

So does that mean you think he may have tried to follow his Dad or go out and find him? If he was left on his own in the home, how long was it that Dacd was away? I know noone can answer these questions, but unless he had a habit of going out of the house on his own, then it would be a strange part of the puzzle!

I feel sick to the stomach because this is so sad, so awful, so................I am at a loss for words. I had hoped that he might have been whisked away by a relative , but it would appear that someone has been lying since the boy disappeared. What on earth happened? Mamchina, what was your source, and did you hear any more than just the bare facts. Dead and buried under a tree? Where? near his home? Not that knowing the truth wil bring the poor lad back. Tragedy!

Marion, I for one feel sick to my stomach the fact that none of us went out to search for this child. Yes i thought about it and sat on my backside doing nothing, thinking 'oh well someone else will arrange a search party'. When an adult male (Brit) went missing loads of people went out looking including Cypriots and rightly so. But a 7 year old child we should at least have tried. Just my guilty opinion.

don't feel badly, Chris. I got the impression that the villagers and locakl people were doing their best. The people over this side helped search for Andy, and i am sure the people at Haspolat searched for the boy - i think it said so in the Turkish press. What is so sad is that he could not be found alive and that he had not just wandered off and got lost. I am SURE had it been over our area, that many brits would have joined the search. it is just so, so, very sad that tragedies like this happen. I now wonder how true the coffee shop gossip referred to earlier was true. But even if it was, that won't bring the boy back.

Apparently the boy's father has been arrested for the murder. There was a full report in Turkish but the english translation did not make sense to me. I found it very difficult tounderstand what was being saying as to how and why the boy had been killed, or even where. Police are not sure if it was in Tashkent, or whether the boy's body was taken there. I think it also said this is only the 2nd time thhat such a tragedy has occurred. All so very sad, and there seemed to be talk of constant child abuse, but I may have misread it. If anyone finds any report in English english, please point us in the direction.

Father, the father's brother and stepmother have been arrested - for this child to have run away several times he must have been very fearful. Thank goodness here they do not have a 'rule 43' whereby prisoners are kept away from other inmates for their own safety. Life here means 20 to 25 years, can go as far as 42 years but think that is only for killing more than 1 person. Father is 30 so if he received 20 years out by 50, do not think mixing with the other prisoners and the nature of the crime do not think he will reach a release date. God rest this poor childs soul.

I read that the real mother could not afford to look after little Mustafa and gave him to the father to look after. She is illegal and could only find work cleaning etc... and went without food many a time so thought it was best the lad was sent to his father for a better life - only to hear two month down the line what had happened.
I read this in Turkish and think I have got this right, correct me if wrong.
