I was informed today that a couple of months ago a new law was passed.
If you live on a communial (is it communal, or communial?) site and someone isn't paying their
site fees, they can be taken to court and will be prosecuted.
Has anyone else heard of this?

Re: New law for communial sites
Can't say I have, FlowerFairy, but i am glad in a way, except of course someone has to pay the court costs, and that worries me a little here! It was the same in Australia, but it was the Strata Council or Management company that did the chasing, not the individual. and of course, I guess it depends on who you are taking to court and who is taking them. I will see if I can find out anything, but I would have thought that your local estate agent should have known. Where did you hear it?

Hi flowerfairy,
Ismet (Elko) started a (very) long thread on this new 'Easement' law on cyprus 44 here: http://www.cyprus44.com/forums/46530.asp
There were also some additional threads later on, which had a bit more information, you will no doubt be able to find them on that site using the custom search facility at the top.
At least Izzet left all the posts there for reference

Re: New law for communial sites
if it is law - then its been a long time coming...
but i would doubt it....
the mistake seems to have been made by the developers not putting strict terms and conditions into the sales contract - but of course its no real loss to them if the place goes to rack and ruin once they've got their dosh.....
my pet gripe is not finishing the communal areas off properly - like the "artist's impression" in the sales brochure - all too often the developers wold expect the maintenence company to landscape the place as a kickback for getting the maintenance contract.
