Tumour removal in TRNC
Have been diagnosed with a tumour in my throat, 90% it's benign, and have to have it removed. Has anyone had similar and operated on, in the TRNC. Which hospital, length of time in hospital and approx cost? You can PM me if you like. I have been advised that I need to stay in hospital for 10 days. Currently getting second opinions from other doctors.
Any info would be much appreciated.

Speak to Dr. Tarik at The Etic hospital. He has removed tumours from at least two of my lady friends including a total breast removal. Excellent work in both cases. Hospital tel: 0392 223 4694. Dr Tarik 0533 841 9933

Soner, everyone on this forum will wish you the very best - having had more than one operation here, not tumours though, can testify that the surgeons do a brilliant job! all the very very best xxx

Thanks everyone. Just need to get this sorted asap but really do not see any reason for having to be hospitalised for a long period of time. Waiting to hear from Near East. Will also contact Etic. Thank you.

Re: Tumour removal in TRNC
I had my thyroid removed in Lefkoşa state hospital in 2012 by Dr Tarık, mentioned above, 2 night stay from the evening before. Was very happy with the operation, not same as uk and probably less comfortable than a private hospital but same surgeon. He was recommended by a friend's mother who is a doctor here and he'd performed same op on her daughter. Was quoted ₺5000 in private hospital, think it was about a third of that at the state hospital.
Good luck

Wasn't expecting to read that first thing this morning bud. We both know you'll come out smiling though. You're in good hands at home which is half the battle won already.

Re: Tumour removal in TRNC
Is it in your throat or in your neck, Sonar?
My husband had one removed from inside his neck near his windpipe by an excellent doctor at Başkent hospital in Lefkosa. 3 hour op because there are a lot of nerves in that area. He was in and out of hospital in a day. Good luck.

It is in my neck, just below ear, told it was on salivary gland. That's what I want to here, in and out in one day. Baskent, is that state or private?Panchocat wrote: ↑Tue 12 Jan 2021 2:02 pmIs it in your throat or in your neck, Sonar?

Soner, is your operation called a parotidectomy? If it is it's unlikely you would be in and out the same day.

Soner, I see. Yes you need to find out more information. I used to say to patients if you think of any questions write them down and take them to your consultation, as it's easy to forget when in a consultation.

Re: Tumour removal in TRNC
About 2 months ago I had a swelling in the neck, no pain. I took Ibuprofen for a few days and swelling went right down. Waited a week before seeing my GP as the small lump was still visible. I was advised to see ENT specialists, who then referred me for an MRI scan. Had a small tumour behind nose (does not seem to be much of a concern to the doctors, but they will do a biopsy to double check), and a larger (golf ball size) tumour in my neck, on main salivary gland. Main issue is that there are several facial nerves surrounding the tumour, which need to be identified before removal of tumour, so they don't get snipped. All doctors that I have seen believe that the tumour is BENIGN (edited sorry), but would do a biopsy just to be on the safe side.

Hello Soner,
I had these these symptoms too. i was working Oncology Dept. at the time and it was noticed by a colleague that I had a swelling on my neck.
Had the surgery, benign lump removed and one night stay in hospital. this was in the UK.
Trust all goes as well for you.

Re: Tumour removal in TRNC
Thank you everyone for you help and kind words. I had operation yesterday morning and all went well. Dr Ferhat Erişi performed the op at the NE Hospital. Tumour size of an egg and 2 small ones removed from neck. Recovered from general anaesthetic immediately not feeling drowsy or sick. On Dr Ferhat checking me over at 1:30pm, I joked and asked if I could go home; response was "yes". In at 8am, op was 55 minutes from 9am, home by 3:30 pm. Just a little sore and will get bandages replaced by local nurses in Geçitkale, then, I see Dr Ferhat next week for another checkover and results of tests on tumours. Great service and doctor. Dissolving stitches used, an added bonus.
