Catalkoy Old Runway
Walked our dog here for a few years now.
Went Sunday afternoon.
Fence across Eastern end with Army keep out signs.
Seems large areas have been fenced off again.
Understand it was formally Army land
Are they taking it back?

Re: Catalkoy Old Runway
Been walking our dogs (3rd set now) there for almost 30 years. Always was military land, and remember on one occasion walking our 1st dogs when we were overtaken by a helicopter and then a microlight!
When Gary Robb started building his houses there (Hazrat Omer Tomb end of the old airport), as they marked out the site, the military came and pulled up the string and stakes and put signs in Turkish, stating Army Area, building prohibited.
What is worrying is they have blocked all entrances/exits, including toi farm land, the unfinished hotel (now started work on it again), and if they close the Hazrat Omer end, the new development overlooking the tomb.
I have asked a friend to post on Facebook to Çatalköy Belediye what's going on- if they get a reply will advise. But for now looks like the only safe dog walking area is potentially finished
But as things involve the military, one has to be careful what you say
Won't let me add photos as too big?

Laptawrinkly, if it is Military land, then perhaps you would be well advised to delete any photos that you have, and then delete them from the 'trash' just to make sure...

Well, if it’s all blocked off then the new hotel won’t get much take - lol. Typical, get building permission but no access to the site, maybe the hotel is new military accommodation then?
No matter how hard the past, you can always begin again.
