Wood splitting still bits

Anyone thinking of buying a wood splitting bit save your money they will not split anything over a three in diameter log and that's pushing it. I trIed a cordless, corded and an SMS still did not touch it. All I got was a chunk of skin and flesh out of my shin as the bit stuck in the log and the log spun hitting my shin
