Re: VPN on smart TV
You can not.
You could use a paid for DNS redirect based service like this one here https://help.streamvia.com/SmartStream with your smart TV (this is what I do).

Try smartdnsproxy.com. Recommended on here by Yilly. We use it on our Samsung smart tv. Works perfectly.

Re: VPN on smart TV
A sort of related question for you tecchies...my neighbour is having Multimax holiday package installed soon. She wants to watch UK TV through a smart TV she is going to buy here. Will she need a PC or Ipad to drive it or can she watch, for example NTV straight from the telly ??? She is not tech savvy so I will be the "expert" lol.

Re: VPN on smart TV
You used to be able to watch NTV that way but not any longer. I find the easiest way is to use an Android Box with a VPN and I watch live BBC via iplayer, ITV via ITV Hub etc. I also have a laptop for that purpose but find it quicker with the android box. If your neighbour chooses an Android box I also recommend a mouse for easier navigation.

Hi Judy, Which way are you saying cannot be used anymore?judyvin wrote:You used to be able to watch NTV that way but not any longer...
I still use a normal browser on a laptop, and Matrix browser on android on a Smart TV, and KODI on android , plus other devices to watch the Complimentary NTV programmes using a Multimax internet connection.
I would be interested to know what you find to be the problem!

Re: VPN on smart TV
Hi Keith, I was referring to not being able to watch NTV directly on my tv any longer. It was fine up until a year ago. It might be just my tv which is a Samsung, around 3 years old now. I have now opted for an android box with Turbo VPN and watch live tv via the iplayer app. If you know how to install a vpn on a tv I would be grateful for your advice. Judy

Re: VPN on smart TV
****UPDATE**** NTV IS NO LONGER WORKING *******
Hi Judy,
You don't need a VPN to watch Live UK TV via the Complimentary NTV facility available to Multimax customers - in fact, if you have a VPN active, NTV won't work! - they need to be able to see that you are not in the UK, and that you are connected to the Multimax network...
If you have an Android box, there are (at least) two ways to access the NTV channels - the first is to install the Matrix TV Browser from the Google Play Store - it's a free download, and can be installed just by clicking on it, like other play store apps.
The second way, if you have KODI installed on the Android box, is to use the official NTV addon for KODI.
There are full instructions on how to install both of these facilities on the NTV website - http://ntv.mx/.
As regards installing a VPN on a smart TV, Erol has covered this in some detail in a series of posts on the forum - you can browse through them here, and if you decide that you still need to do it, rather than using your Android box, all the information is there...
Enjoy!

I can recommend a Smart DNS Service works great and can watch live TV and catch up.

If you need assistance for setting up PM me your phone number and I will assist
https://goo.gl/kqDMYQ
After the 14days FREE trial
Subscription packages are just $39.90 USD for 1 year or $49.90 for 2 years
or try monthly $4.90

Re: VPN on NON SMART TV - amendment to original post
We don't have a smart TV, ours is probably 7/8 years old - however, until recently we were able to get BBCIPlayer via the Turbo (ie Rabbit!) VPN, selecting UK. We have an mBox s905x. Lately for some reason we have not been able to do this; on clicking on BBCIplayer, we get the message ' you are unable to view this content, as you are not in the UK'. Seems like the VPN does not work - anyone got any (simple please!) ideas why this should be? and how to rectify?
