270 Euros per person going South
135 Euros per person going North
Goods for personal use only and with many other rules invented by officials on the spot.

Hi Hilltop
Thanks for your reply
This is what I have been told ..... however when we had the problem we were told by the official that as my husband and I were together and clearly lived in 1 household that the 2 of us were ' classed as one'!!!!! ad could therefore have only the 135 between us!!!!!!!
Thanks

Re: VALUE OF SHOPPING ALLOWED FROM SOUTH
The part that I have difficulty with is the phrase 'For personal use only'.
I had always thought that this was meant to differentiate between 'personal use' and 'commercial use' - i.e. resale/business use.
However, some of the recent posts suggest that the Customs people have an even narrower interpretation than that, so that if you can't wear it, or eat it, it's not 'personal'...
As others have said, perhaps they do just make it up as they go along
