I know the feeling.
I was doing system restores,
before I decided to look into the problem.
Not sure how many people it might be affecting.
Seems OK now

Got the most horrendous cold at the moment and am off to bed, but will try your recommendation asap. This problem is driving me crackers on Windows 10. All around me i.e. TV, another laptop, Kindle and two smart phones are working fine but my laptop is for ever saying I have no internet connection and I have to go through the whole switching on manually palaver. Hope it works with me in due course to save my sanity if nothing else.

I had this problem - which was solved very quickly by Erol of MM - after I had had my laptop uprated apparently our 3 year old router did not have enough capacity for all our (& visitors) devices.
MM firstly lent me a router to see if it did work then I purchased one.
Hope you feel better soon Sophie it is not really worth getting up today the weather is so horrible!!
