Car import from UK
I am considering importing my 10 year old car to TRNC from the UK and looking for any advice.
I am not a resident nor applying for residency at the moment, so the car will be kept at my holiday home.
*can a 10 year old car be imported when not a resident but a property owner?
*are there tax import charges?
*are there any restrictive conditions on registering the car in TRNC?
Any advice or comments will be greatly appreciated.
Thanks

Yes. We did just that.
Yes. Customs duty and other charges will be levied.
Don't quote me, just writing as I understand it: as a non-TC,
the vehicle must be RHD;
the vehicle cannot be classed as a commercial vehicle.

Thanks for your reply. Can I ask which company you used to ship the car?

Cars. Dolphin.
Previously, l drove a car from UK and brought in through Girne.
You say your car is 10 years old. How many years have you had the car registered in your name?

Cars. Dolphin.
Thanks, I have contacted them. Can I ask which customs agent you may have used?

It has been in my name since new, so 10 years. Does this satisfy requirement for import without transfer of residency?

Do check yourself though. Yes you will have to pay customs and various taxes they levy. roughly around the 40 % level.

I imported three cars from the UK without residency at the various times. The first without even owning a property here. Albeit all before last December.

Rules change at the drop of a hat here!
The only way the OP will get a current assessment is to contact the authorities here.
And even that can depend on the duty officials take on the rules n regs.

I won't name the shipping company but I imported a car here .it sat in Ipswich dock every time I called the shipping company in famagusta they said it was leaving next week.
It was clearly a lie it didn't leave for 3 months .
No lie...
