Yes unfortunately it was and was advertised as 'Technoport Party'. The scene down there at seven this am was one of devastation. The overflowing bins could be smelled from hundreds of yards and the fields around were strewn with litter. Looking down at what remains of the beach that isn't covered with sunbeds, I noticed that the lone Turtles nest cannot now be identified. Its either the one that was moved for protection by KTW or the protective cover has been removed. What price 'progress'?

Whats that got to do with being a Holiday Island, I would have thought most of the participants live here.

Still a scene of complete devastation at 9.30, 1 person tidying up but not at top speed. Toilets wrecked, sunbeds filthy, beach disgraceful. Last week local lady was arguing over price of sunbeds, had to pay by card as not sufficient cash on her. What a blot on the landscape Sardunya has become.

As of now, every thing clean and tidy, full of families enjoying the beach. A couple of posh boats anchored in the bay.

Haters gonna hate? I'm lucky that I can remember it as a free beach before the 'takeover' and the rampant commercialisation. There was a little blackboard type sign at the top of the lane saying 'Picnic Alani' and the beach was mostly deserted, you could put your towel down anywhere. On Bayrams there would be a few families enjoying it and head scarved grannies might risk exposing an ankle to paddle at the edge.
I don't think for one minute that the 300 who couldn't be wrong were local people who incidentally, were trying to sleep with windows open in the heat of the night and subjected to full volume 'Ibiza' type trance music and the constant toing and froing of cars driving at top speed most of whom seem to have after market 'silencers' or 'boom boom' emanating from said vehicle. As I said before, what price progress?

Medjoul1, I wasn't for one second suggesting the 300+ attending were people who actually live locally ( I feel for them) but to counteract Frontals remark that this was a holiday island i.e. they were holiday makers "enjoying" themselves. Very few of them I suspect.!! No its not progress, but if you are under say 25, sadly you'd never be aware of the days you describe and what there is now, is the Norm.

Do these things have to get a licence?
If they don't they should which will make it easier for the authorities to control.

It is up TRNC to decide what sector of tourists they wish to cater for and go for that sector and not any other. You can go for young or old, Blackpool in a foreign language or more authentic and there is money in all of them. I'm not sure that going for the young market will suit the sensibilities of the local people tbh.

One thing they need to know is, if you try to go for all the different sectors chances are you'll get none of them.

I know this is a holiday island but at the moment there aren't many holidaymakers here, I would guess that many of the 300 were local young people and students. Of course they want to enjoy themselves, we were all young once, but I have to say that I wouldn't have been too happy if music was blaring out until 6 a.m near to my home. Perhaps 2 a.m might have been more acceptable and have shown some consideration for people living close by.

In the modern world people now go out to party around 11 pm to 1 am, so 5 hours partying on a beach is not such a long time , gone are the days of going at at 7 or 8 pm, places open later and stay open until later!

we cannot just blame the party-goers, homeowners should maybe do a bit of due diligence before buying and if buying near a lovely looking secluded beach chances are one day in the future it might be used by some enterprising entrepreneurial person, and come on we gotta be serious here, there's not a great deal going on here for the young people of NC so after the lockdown I think they had a well overdue party and i hope they enjoyed themselves.
But of course only my humble opinion

Ah ha wight

I was only referring to the noise factor just as you were in your original post, now I've seen your latest post with regards to the Turtles, so now you're on a different bandwagon and you have 2 axes to grind now whereas it was just noise and a funny face in your original topic.

Turtles are a different matter and if that beach has Turtles that come to nest then I'm in agreement that no parties or even sun worshippers should be in certain areas. (:"()

But you must make up your mind !! ((W\)) ((W\))

RE. message 16, wotw, if you had read carefully, some of us have been here before the 'Sardunya beach bar', its a relatively recent "attraction". No amount of due diligence can prepare you for what the residents of Sardunya sokak now have to put up with at weekends.
I'm sure that a big part of the problem is that there is no joined up plan for tourism and no regulation. The Ayia Nappa creep in the south is well documented and people have moved to the North to avoid it, so if the powers that be want an Ibiza or Magaluf or Ayia Nappa here in the North then they must consider all the factors, residential, environmental etc.

Sardunya beach bar has been there for about 12 years and has always had music. Last year was the first time they had a turtle nest and Oktay immediately got in contact with the Karsiyaka turtle watch to advise them and seek their guidance. He is merely trying to make a living whilst giving the young Cypriots the type of entertainment they want. I would say 90% of the people that attend these events are Cypriot. Don't think it can really be compared to Ayia Napa. Incidentally I live a 5 minute walk away and didn't hear anything that night although we sometimes do.

As it happens I did read very carefully the topic and original post of person who started the post.
I'm not 1 bit interested in all the other tital tattle. Non of my business.

People should consider when buying property at least a 1 mile radius of their home and what if!!

Nappa brings in hundreds of millions of euro's each year and it's such a huge pity that NC has not got such attractions.

I can remember sardunya in 2009 playing music just as the barrel used to in alsancak.
Again you cannot blame businesses for trying to provide for their family just because you might be retired, that's selfish. They only have a small window of opportunity to make a small living. Ear plugs work a treat I'm told or half a bottle of your favorite tipple. I'd of gone down and joined them πŸ€”πŸ€”πŸ₯‚πŸ₯‚πŸ₯‚πŸ₯‚

Have to say that the same has happened in the harbour on a Saturday night. Very loud techno music and flashing lights from the roof of the Carob restaurant. Totally ruins the ambiance of the much loved ancient harbour. Ayia Napa has arrived sadly!

Well it appears that I am in a minority when it comes to loud music being played late at night or even into the early morning. The loud music from Sardunya has been creeping later and later and now 'all nighters' seem to custom and practice. If anybody living a 5 min. walk away couldn't hear it, it could be heard from the main road as though it was next door.
For years on this forum we expressed sympathy with those near Escape beach, now its Sardunyas turn. What next, why don't we have the raves at Guzelyali then at Horseshoe bay Kayalar? Akdeniz anybody?
Maybe I'm just against someone exploiting a natural resource to the detriment of others in order to pursue a profit and like many others of my age group came here to find some peace and live quietly, now thats selfish!

I very much doubt that you are in the minority. There will be a majority who suffer this abomination in silence πŸ˜•

There are those here who wish to express their opinions more vociferously than others and perhaps there are some vested interests to be protected. Such is life.

Starting to remind me of the Wild West πŸ™‚

What vested interests would there be for anyone other than the owner of said establishment? I really do understand how annoying loud music can be as we are in proximity to various venues that host Turkish weddings with the drum banging, karaoke, party music, etc throughout the summer. After 14 years we are used to it and I genuinely did not hear the music from Sardunya last Saturday.

I'll leave that for you to workoutπŸ‘

I think a lot depends upon the wind direction. There was a strong breeze in the direction of Girne that evening.
It was therefore extremely loud in the Bowling club area.
I can understand the need for places to turn a profit especially now .... But the question is at what cost to the environment and local life ?

Wight, wind direction is absolutely right! In the "bad old days", of Escape Beach and the Locca open air night club, there were nights when they seemed to be on our terrace, suddenly wind would change and it became muffled. It was amazing how it could change in a second.

Im going to sound like a game show from the 70s now, or was it the 60s, Its make your mind up time!

Just as a matter of curiosity, when was the last time it was very noisy down that beach? And how many times a year is it noisy down that beach?

My mentioning the fact that this is a holiday island wasn't for one minute suggesting that the attendees of this event were tourists. We all know that that there are few, if any, tourists around at the moment. My point is that there will be events, especially in the summertime which will be geared towards a younger, livelier set of people who aren't yet in God's waiting room.
