Amount in TL allowed at ATMs using Revolut card
I tried to take out 3000TL today at Ziraat bank with Revolut card and was refused. Found out that max I could take out from that particular bank is 1500TL. Ended up taking out amount I wanted using both Revolut and Starling cards.
I couldn't find any info on their TRNC website, but on their Turkish website, the limit is 1500TL and thereafter they charge a commission. Here, it simply refused to action my request for more, as I did try, said that I had exceeded my limit.
As an aside, I certainly hadn't exceeded the amount allowed by Revolut or Starling.
Does anyone know if other banks give higher limits in TL using Revolut or Starling cards?

Thank you Niceone, good to know. My old Mastercard Revolut card never worked at Creditwest, but recently got a shiny new Visa one, so will give that a try. Pity I hadn't thought of that when I was in Creditwest earlier this week.

Turkish Bank i know allow 2000 TL - no fees / charges, then you simply re insert your card again and take out another 2000 TL

I regularly use Starling to withdraw 3000tl from Capital Bank or the one next to it opposite Lemar in Karakum. I forget the name of the bank though.

If you are on the basic plan you can take out £200 equivalent in TL for free a month. I’ve taken out 3600TL in one hit before.

Re: Amount in TL allowed at ATMs using Revolut card
Thanks everyone for all your input. So it appears that it's just Ziraat that allow such a small amount. I was sure in the past that I'd taken out more, obviously at a different ATM.
Another thing I have noticed very recently, is that some places have tried to charge me in dollars using Revolut card. Luckily I spotted it and refused the transaction, both were Turkiye bank POS. In two different markets, they changed to another POS and transaction went through in TL. Happened again yesterday in Iskele market, where the vendor assured me that all was ok, and he showed me that the only options open to him were dollar, euro or GB pound. I couldn't get it through to him that I would be charged more and didn't go through with the transaction. Just be aware people.

Some Card machines use DCC ( Dynamic Currency Conversion ) when foreign cards are used here and convert TL into GBP , EUR or USD. Avoid this route if possible as it is more costly due to exchange rate differences given and potential fees as well.
Usually retailers here have more than 1 card terminal so ask them to use another machine if possible.
There is also a way to bypass the DCC but that requires the operator of the terminal to know how to override it.

I think you've hit the nail on the head there, the operator doesn't know how to override it, and I don't have a clue.
I really was just bringing this to peoples attention, as it's only fairly recently that this has happened to me. I've knocked off contactless on my cards, so that I always have to enter PIN and view the device.

Overriding the DDC is achieved by pressing the amber or red button, the terminal then removes the exchange options and reverts to TL.

Many thanks KC, just hate folk getting ripped off, and easily missed if you are not paying attention.
Thanks for that info Groucho, much appreciated. Never used one of these devices, other than being on the paying end.
