Nokia Phones
Does anybody know whether its possible to purchase Nokia phones in the North. I don't want to have to pay a fortune having one flown here if I can get the model we need in the TRNC. Thanks.

Re: Nokia Phones
I have seen the small, black Nokia phones for sale, new, in Girne. As these are simple phones they are really quite cheap.
Try the road leading up from Liman hotel / casino, Canbulat Sokak. Many phone shops along there.

Its no the money, but someone elderly just can't cope with Smart Phones regardless of how simple we think they are. Thanks.

Samsung also do a small, simple, black phone.benjaminbutton wrote: ↑Fri 13 Jan 2023 9:08 amIts no the money, but someone elderly just can't cope with Smart Phones regardless of how simple we think they are. Thanks.
There is still a market for straight forward mobile phones with little more than a torch by way of “extras”.
You will be able to purchase in Girne in one of the side street phone shops.

Re: Nokia Phones
You'll definitely get a basic phone here at most of the phone shops, and they really are not expensive. I looked at one a while back but decided it wasn't for me, I need a smart phone.benjaminbutton wrote: ↑Fri 13 Jan 2023 9:08 amIts no the money, but someone elderly just can't cope with Smart Phones regardless of how simple we think they are. Totally understand the need for basic, my Dad is just the same and just cannot get on with a smart phone, manages to b*gger it up within mins of it being in his hands. Can't understand it, as he has a tablet and is fine with that. He keeps asking for a smart phone, but he's not allowed, as the family are fed up sorting it out, and it was really driving Mum nuts. She's the one who has put the ban on him, we wouldn't dare!
He's now got a Doro phone, but I don't know if you'd manage to get one here, I haven't looked to be honest.

Re: Nokia Phones
alphamike, I know just how your family feel. My husband has bought in the region of 5 phones in just less than 3 years and disguards them with three months The last one has not been used for more than a week I don't think and I'll be putting up for sale soon. Its a Samsung and still well under Warranty. The one before that is in fact a Doro (not available here at all ) and he gets in such a muddle between regular calls, WhatsApp, and the rest but at least its lasted a year with enormous difficulty. He's found what he WANTS, its especially for people with Alzheimer's and American and you can only have 9 numbers on it plus an emergency number. Obviously its not compatible with Telsim or Turkcell but it looks and feels like a smart phone and has a decent sized screen. I'm really grateful for your recommendations, but my husband sits for hours and hours looking at every make of phone from India to Timbuktu. He doesn't have a tablet but a laptop. We are our PC mans best customer as you can imagine!! Thank you for your interest.

BB I really do sympathise with you. It's such a pity that the phone he wants is from US and not UK, as you might have a chance for someone to bring it back for you.
Yes, completely understand re use of PC man. I find that's another thing I have to repair for Dad whenever I visit, and when I'm not he takes it in for sorting out. Such a shame, as he was always pretty on on computers, but alas no longer. At least Mum has her own laptop now, and he's not allowed near it.

I've more or less padlocked both my phone and laptop. If I could only do the same with the TV zapper!!!!
