Beach rubbish

Walking the dog today at Alagdi 2, found a discarded fluorescent tube on the sand. How incredibly stupid of the idiot who brought it to the beach. Getting your foot sliced is the least of the problems. The infection caused by the Mercury inside these tubes will leave to horrendous infections in the wound. And yes it was brought there because right next to it was the electronic starter that is used with these fittings . Mind-boggling insanity!

About a year ago we started walking that beach twice a week. We saw a couple picking up rubbish, we decided to do that ourselves. Now we go twice a week for exercise and collecting anything on the beach. Unfortunately we have been away for 10 days but when we return we will be straight back at it. On a normal day dependent on how much has been washed in. we collect at least 5 or 6 carrier bags full each time. Its amazing what you find, keys, flashlights but some nasty stuff. We feel we are doing our bit for the environment and for the turtles.
