tCrispy chilli beef
350g minute steak cut very thinly into strips
3 tablespoons cornflour
2teaspoons Chinese five-spice powder
combine the cornflour and fice-spice powder and toss in and coat the beef
100ml vegetable oil
1 red pepper thinly sliced
1 red chilli thinly sliced
4 spring onions sliced green and white part separated
2 garlic cloves crushed
thumb sized piece of ginger cut into matchsticks
for sauce combine
4tablespoons rice wine or white wine vinegar
1 tablespoon soy sauce
2 tablespoons sweet chilli sauce
2 tablespoons tomato ketchup
2 tablespoons water
Fry beef till crisp in hot oil till crisp and golden. Scoop out and drain on kitchen paper.
Get rid of all but tablespoon of oil. Add pepper, half the chilli, white ends of spring onions, garlic and ginger stir fry for 3 minutes (don’t let ginger and garlic burn).
Pour over the combined sauce. Bubble for 2 minutes,.
Add beef back to pan, toss well to coat.
Serve on cooked noodles sprinkle with rest of chilli and green parts of spring onions.
